How Hotel Shuttles Actually Work

Most hotel shuttles run on a fixed schedule, often every 20–30 minutes, and many make multiple stops — picking up or dropping off at several nearby hotels before reaching yours. That's how the shuttle stays free: it's shared, and shared means shared time.

Where Shuttles Fall Short

• Fixed hours — many hotel shuttles don't run 24/7; a very late or very early flight can mean no shuttle is running at all.
• Multiple stops — if your hotel isn't first on the route, your 15-minute ride can become 40 minutes with stops at other properties.
• Meeting point requirements — some shuttles require you to call from a designated pickup area, not your actual arrival curb, adding a walk before the ride even starts.
• No suburban service — shuttles almost always serve nearby hotels only; if you're headed to a suburb, a shuttle isn't an option.

When the Shuttle Still Makes Sense

If your flight lands during the shuttle's operating hours, your hotel is near the front of its route, and you're not in a hurry, a free shuttle is a reasonable choice — it's genuinely free, after all. The trade-off is predictability, not usability.

A flat-rate taxi optimizes for predictability (known price, direct route, any time) at the cost of a fare.
